BiographyBackground: I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (mfc #47404). I graduated from John F. Kennedy University in 2006 with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. My degree holds a specialization in working with Children and Adolescents.
The background and foundation of my work is rooted in my years of work within the outdoor education world of
experiential learning. Through this work I witnessed the infinite growth potential of the adolescents and the families that I
worked with. Their success and growth inspired me to become a psychotherapist. I often blend my experiential background into
my psychotherapy work through how I approach and view my clients. While I may not be taking my clients outside to the
mountains anymore, I still inherently believe they can achieve great things. I use this belief and confidence in their
abilities to guide the work that we do together.
I am passionate about extending the work I did with adolescents and teens to working with young adults as they make their way into adulthood. I believe that navigating college and careers are just as difficult, if not more so, than the teen years. For more information on the full range of services I offer, go to Services.
Style: Every therapist has their own style. Some are soft and nurturing while others are direct and practical. Some are talkative and engaged while others speak very little. I don't think it should be an either /or situation. My style is direct and down to earth but I also know when to be soft and nurturing. I know when to shut up and listen and I know when to talk. I promise not to ask you "and how does that make you feel" unless you really need help in that department.
